New human parvovirus and clinical manifestations, which it causes

I. Dzyublyk, O. Obertynska

Abstract

Progress in molecular genetic research techniques contributed to the discovery of a new parvovirus, called human bocavirus. First discovered bocavirus HBoV1 was detected and identified by polymerase chain reaction in 2005. Another three bocaviruses HBoV2-4 were identified at first in 2009-2010. The paper presents the newest information about structure, place in the classification and reproduction of bocaviruses. There are described the ways of transmission and features of epidemiology of bocavirus infection. The main clinical manifestations of bocavirus infection in children and adults, as well as laboratory diagnostics, are presented.
